CW: If I really love your work and want to stalk you, where else can I find your work?
MF: Well, if you'd really like to stalk me, you're in luck- my former stalker was recently arrested, so there's an opening for you! Apply for the position of Martina Stalker at www.MartinaMartina.com .
CW: Oh, excellent! Speaking of applying, what is your dream job?
MF: Well, obviously the best job in existence is designing the clothes for Barbie dolls. Coming in a close second is designing the look and feel of Disney World rides. Third choice would be a tax accountant. (Just kidding on that one.)
CW: What other artist(s) inspire you?
MF: I am blown away by artists who are able to create an entire world that you can step into, which is something that Walt Disney did on an enormous scale. I take regular trips to Disney World because I feel so inspired by it and connected to it. It's a giant interactive art installation.
CW: Do you have a muse? Who?
MF: Way to rub it in my face that my boyfriend dumped me this week! Great, now I'm going to cry through the rest of the interview. Thanks a lot, Katie!
CW: (foot in mouth)
MF: I have a good friend named Karell who I draw lots of pictures of. Actually, I think she's been the subject of most of the paintings I've had in past Charmingwall shows! And, those are her legs on the postcard for the Cardboard & Found show. She has cute little legs and for some reason I always want to draw them. Is that weird? I love her.
CW: What is your favorite sea creature?
MF: I'm terrified of the ocean. TERRIFIED. My biggest fear is that I'll be lost at sea and just float for eternity in a vast empty open ocean.
CW: That is actually very close to my worst fear, being dropped in the middle of the ocean at night. But, come on, crabs are so cute, right?
Only the tiny talking ones, like in The Little Mermaid.

CW: What is your favorite breakfast cereal?
MF: My favorite THEORETICAL breakfast cereal would be chunks of bacon with chocolate marshmallows in it. For now, I just put bacos on top of Count Chocula.
CW: What about a chocolate covered pretzel cereal. Good idea?
MF: Wow, GREAT idea. I'm amazed someone hasn't made that yet! CHOCOLATE COVERED PRETZEL CEREAL COPYRIGHT 2009 KATIE MCCLENAHAN.
CW: What do you daydream about?
MF: My future wedding: I want to make the whole thing feel like a giant room full of cotton candy, and I will have hair extensions down to my feet and a dress made of molded pink plastic. All the guests have to wear white. The clincher is that I want to hang old fashioned baby bassinets holding newborn babies from the wall, so it looks like shelves full of babies. Imagine walking into a room where the walls are lined floor to ceiling with babies, and no one knows whose babies they are or why they're there. And no one acknowledges them.
CW: Oh, wait. THAT'S my worst fear... Do you have any other shows or projects coming up that we should know about?
MF: So many projects! I have tables at the MoCCA comic convention in June and the Small Press Expo in September, which are both places where you can find my, ahem, AWARD WINNING comic books! I'm also working on some really fun websites: two of my faves that I've had a hand in lately are www.IHeartDaily.com and www.FitsMi.com
Martina's show will open with a reception here at Charmingwall on Saturday, APRIL 4th from 6-8pm. Please drop in to join us for free snacks, awesome art, and nice folks.
